Issue #3, 9th September 2002

 Editorial by Ravindra Maharaj (Ravi)
Podracers, plagiarism and Scottish pubs. Those, and the usual editorial humdrum.

Thermal News Wrap by Dan Browder (az)
az, the admin of that ever so sexy site blizzle.com, takes another hilarious look at what's been happening in the shell world recently!

Shell-Shocked theme contest opens! by Phil Varcoe

Theme: Thin by Teschio reviewed by Phil Varcoe
  (Phar0e)

What? Teschio again? Phar0e couldn't resist taking another look at this themer's awesome work.

Tutorial: Color Considerations by Tom Speer
If you're a themer, or if you have a web-site - this is essential reading. A professional gives us some tips on the effective use of colour (or is that "color"?).

Interview: Josh Cavell (xclusive) by Chris Marlor
  (Dra'Kon)

Dra'Kon, himself put under the spotlight last issue, does the same to xclusive (the admin of litestep.com). I bet you'll find out something you didn't know ... .

Review: Ghost in the Shell by craeonics
Tekman craeonics gives us an overview, review and comparison of the major shell switchers out there. This article appeared previously in Teknidermy magazine, and crae was nice enough to personalise it a bit for us.

Theme: Steel by Surazal by Sunny Saxena (143lsstep)
143lsstep takes this shiny new theme through the paces. The review is rigorous as usual, and Surazal says his piece. Minimalism seems to be the name of the game ... and some interesting views are expressed on the topic.

Looking for Litestep 0.25 by Joshua Blocher
  (Verbalshadow)

Verbalshadow gives us his thoughts on how the world's most popular shell can be improved. Modularity baby, that's where it's at ...

Cloud:9ine Update by David Underhill (..lager)
For a while there it seemed like Cloud:9ine was about to bite the proverbial dust. David tells us about the journey to the dark side and back. As well, he issues a call for coders!

Interview: Morten Hansen (eriol) by Ravindra Maharaj
  (Ravi)

The logo in this issue was designed by eriol, who also creates the occasional theme. Get to know this LSML lurker a bit better!

Theme: Obsidian by Weeble reviewed by Phil Varcoe
  (Phar0e)
and Johan Klos (Maestr0)

Yet another Shell-Shocked exclusive - A new themer is independently scrutinised by two of the veterans on the scene. This isn't just a review, but a release as well. It's also Weeble's theming debut!

An observation ... by Brandon Sneed (nivenh)
Interviewed in the last issue, nivenh presents his views in that acrid style we've come to know and love. He's not afraid to speak his mind, come hell or high water ...

Tutorial: PHP, register_globals and you! by Chris Marlor
  (Dra'Kon)

If you run a PHP-driven site (or you're just interested in the subject), you should take a look at this.

The Liter Side by Brian Wolven
Politicians, priests, saints and policemen. Brian has a good selection of quality humour for you this time around!

I think I'll implement a "keyword" for this site, so you'll have to start your comment with ... say "shells" ... I'll strip that and post your comment.

Hopefully that will keep the spammers at bay.
