I'm not into working out. My philosophy: No pain, no pain. - Jerry Seinfeld

Article: Real-life encounters

Have you known someone from the shell scene online for a while and subsequently met them in real life? This section is dedicated to such meetings.

Recently, I've met a coder named jesus_mjjg. I'd known him from the shell scene for some time, and mentioned that I was visiting his country (Belgium). He offered to meet me for a beer, and I gladly accepted! jesus_mjjg was just as cool offline as he was online -- we had a good conversation (even talked about some of you shellers out there!) and downed some great Belgian beer. (It is as good as they say!)

If you've ever met anyone from your scene, you can leave your story below. Alternatively (if there are photos and such), you could send it to me and I'll include it here.

Check back in a few days and see what's transpired!

GW is only encouraging travel by those who are heavily armed and wearing flak jackets and/or body armor. And he only allows *them* to go to Iraq. =(

I want to know why jesus_mjjg got the funky little glass instead of the usual pint glass. What was he drinking, anyway? I would have been off to Nice for a meeting this week, and then up to Belgium to visit my sister and her family (and perhaps jesus_mjjg if we could work it in). Unfortunately, GW just had to have a war, and foreign travel is being discouraged ATM. =(

hmm.. I've met visigoth, warewolf, mrjukes, stealth (known on the lokai forums, etc.), and a couple other LS users, etc.

Meeting people IRL who I first met online has always been a good thing. It's just rare to keep in touch with them so far.

Hi West - I did a while back, if it's a recent one - I haven't been checking regularly. My flat's been totally flooded from a burst pipe - so life is a bit disrutped at the moment.

I think I'll implement a "keyword" for this site, so you'll have to start your comment with ... say "shells" ... I'll strip that and post your comment.

Hopefully that will keep the spammers at bay.

I'm going to disable the chatbox and comments until I have some time to deal with the comment spam. Meanwhile contact me at: [link] if you'd like to post a comment.
